Men's Tennis Snaps Yeshiva's Conference Winning Streak

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team defeated Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University, Friday, April 23. The Valiants (2-1) swept all nine matches, winning by a score of 9-0. It broke a 38-match conference-winning streak for the Maccabees (1-1), their first loss in conference since 2014.
 
The match saw a series of tight matches at both doubles and singles and four different matches had sets go into tiebreakers. Manhattanville picked up two 8-3 wins at the second and third doubles positions. Then at the first doubles position, sophomore Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) and junior Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) picked up an impressive 8-7 win, picking up an 8-6 victory in the tiebreaker.
 
At singles, the Valiants picked up wins at the fourth (6-2, 6-1), fifth (6-2, 6-4) and sixth (6-0, 6-0) position. The top three singles position all saw tiebreakers. At third singles, Gonzalez won 7-6 (8-6), 7-5. At second singles, senior Alex Fleischman (Riverside, Conn./King) won 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) and in the first position, freshman James Hourihan (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) won 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8).
 
The Crimson and White return to action, Sunday, April 25, for a skyline matchup against Farmingdale State College. The home match is set for a 1:00 P.M start time.
