PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's tennis picked up its first win of the spring, Saturday, April 24. The 6-3 came against Skyline Conference opponent Sarah Lawrence College. The Valiants (1-1) swept all six matches they participated in, only picking up losses in three matches because they were unable to field a full team.
Manhattanville picked up two wins at doubles and four wins at singles. At first doubles, junior
Renay Charley (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) and freshman
Bea Pretnar (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Soundview Prep) won 8-2 and at second doubles, graduate student
Maya Dziurda (Warsaw, Poland/Liceum Mikolaja Kopernika) and junior
Kelsey Ulzheimer (Franklin Square, N.Y./H. Frank Carey) won by a score of 8-1.
At singles, Charley, Pretnar, Dziurda and Ulzheimer all picked up wins at first, second, third and fourth singles, respectively. The Valiants did not drop a singles set against the Gryphons (1-4) and Charley won her match without dropping a game, 6-0. 6-0.
The Crimson and White return to action on Tuesday, April 27, for an away match against Skyline opponent Mount St. Mary College. Start time is set for 5:00 P.M.
