PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College softball team eight-game winning streak was snapped with a 1-0 decision in the Skyline Conference opener before returning to winning ways by claiming the 6-1 non-conference win Sunday afternoon over the visiting Mount Saint Mary College Knights (12-6, 10-4 Skyline) from Manhattanville College Softball Field. The split moves the Valiants to 10-3 on the season and 6-3 in conference play.

- After a scoreless three innings, Manhattanville broke the scoring ice with a single run in the fourth. Amaya Esparza cracked her third-career home run to give the Valiants the early 1-0 lead.
- Mount Saint Mary tied the game at one (1-1) in the sixth inning as Morgan O'Neill's sacrifice fly out plated Laura Dentato.
- Casillas kept her hitting streak alive, extending to 13 games, with a single through the right side in the fourth inning.
- The Valiants put together five runs scored in the home half of the sixth on Knight starter Nicole Rosner. Esparza reached base off a single to left center and then scored the game-winning run three batters later off of Jayleen Torres' (Bellflower, Calif./Downey) double.
