BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Manattanville College men's tennis picked up a win in their season opening match against Skyline Conference opponent Sarah Lawrence College, Tuesday, April 6. The 9-0 victory came on the road.
The Valiants (1-0) swept both doubles and singles in the win. Manhattanville dropped only one total game at doubles. Junior
Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H./Dover) and freshman
James Hourihan (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) won 8-0 at first doubles, sophomore
Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) and junior
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) won 8-0 at second doubles and senior
Alex Fleischman (Riverside, Conn./King) and freshman
Shiel Loganadan (New York, N.Y./Mary McDowell Friends) won 8-1 at third doubles.
Manhattanville saw similar success at singles against the Gryphons (1-1). The team dropped only two games total between all six matches. Hourihan, Gonzalez and Schlapak all won their matches by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
The Crimson and White will look to build on their strong start, next Wednesday, April 14. The Valiants will take on United States Merchant Marine Academy starting at 4:00 P.M. at home.
