Key Moments
- Meeting for the first time this season, Manhattanville struck first by scoring the game-winning run off Golden Eagle starter Patricia McGloin. Giovanna Liggett (Fountain Valley, Calif./Edison) led off the home half of the second inning with a single before touching home plate off an Amaya Esparza (San Diego, Calif./Granite Hills) RBI double to take the 1-0 lead.
- In the sixth frame, the Valiants saw their lead extend to three as Sarah Harker (Irvine, Calif./Irvine) and Liggett slapped back-to-back run-scoring singles up the middle to push across Jayleen Torres (Bellflower, Calif./Downey) and Harker, respectively. Torres kept her hitting streak alive, pushing it to 10 games, with a single to lead off the inning.
- After allowing her third walk of the day, Charli Shinstine (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito Academy) sat down Emily Bazarewsk, induced McGloin into a groundout and fired her 13th strikeout to settle the 3-0 final. En route to earning her first-career postseason victory, Shinstine only surrendered a sixth inning single to Kassandra Tibbetts to capture her third-career complete-game one-hitter shutout.
- Isela Casillas' (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake) impressive 21-game hitting streak (tied career-best) came to a close after her third plate appearance in the fifth inning.
