Key Moments
- Rams starter Allie Stanya and Valiant starter Kylie Pester (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) engaged in a pitcher's duel in the opening four innings only allowing singles through in the third and fourth frames, respectively.
- Manhattanville broke through with three runs scored on two hits and two errors in the fifth inning to take the 3-0 lead. Abby Tanuma (Chula Vista, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) led off the frame with a double to left center and then took advantage of a fielding error by first base Jessica Lombardo to score the game-winning run. Four batters later, Isela Casillas (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake) crushed a two-RBI single to push across Amaya Esparza (San Diego, Calif./Granite Hills) and Brooke Franson (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) to cap the scoring.
- The Valiants padded the lead with three insurance runs in the sixth highlighted by Tanuma. Tanuma slapped a run-scoring double to advance Giovanna Liggett (Fountain Valley, Calif./Edison) home. With two outs and the bases loaded, Jaclyn DeLuca (Yonkers, N.Y./Sacred Heart (H.S.)) and Tanuma capitalized off a fielding error by Lombardo to touch home plate and conclude Stanya's outing.
- In the seventh, Kylie Pester (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) silenced the Rams' rally attempt after inducing Lombardo to a foul out, Walker to a ground out and Prescia to a fly out to settle the 6-0 win. Pester fired six strikeouts (3 H) in her first postseason appearance to earn her seventh win, fifth complete-game and third shutout on the season.
