PURCHASE, N.Y. – Playing at home for the first time on the young season, the Manhattanville College men's soccer team was defeated by Skidmore on Saturday, 3-0. With the loss, the Valiants drop to 0-1-1 on the year.
Skidmore scored on the first shot of the game by either squad, as Roman Toepler was able to fire one past
Matthew Rodriguez (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes) seven minutes into the contest. The Thoroughbreds would add another in the 13
th minute off a shot by Nick Jardim.
The Valiants were hard-pressed to get much going on the attack, getting only one shot on goal the entire afternoon.
Michael Mezzina (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Morris Catholic) was able to test Skidmore keeper Bobby Stratts in the 28
th minute, but the Thoroughbreds netminder was able to make the save to preserve his clean sheet.
Rodriguez registered three saves in net for the Valiants across his full 90 minutes.
