PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Despite recording the first two goals of the contest, the Manhattanville College field hockey team was bested by Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday night, 4-2. With the loss, the Valiants are now 0-7 in 2021.
Felicity Williams (Glen Falls, N.Y./Glen Falls) scored twice in the second quarter, putting the Valiants on the board in the 19
th minute off a pass from
Ava Panzer (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling). The junior then notched her third tally of the year on an unassisted goal two and a half minutes later to give Manhattanville a two goal advantage.
While the Wildcats would get one back before the half drew to a close, Johnson & Wales turned on the pressure over the closing 30 minutes, outshooting Manhattanville 10-3 in the second half. The result was a third period Margaret Johnson goal that drew the game even before two Wildcat tallies in the fourth that put the contest away.
Florence Harrison (Melbourne, Australia/Balwyn High School) played her second complete game of the season in goal for the Valiants, making eight saves in the contest.

The Valiants will now look to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday as conference play begins. Manhattanville travels to NECC foe University of Maine Farmington for a noon showdown.
