FARMINGTON, Maine – Facing conference competition for the first time on the year, the Manhattanville College field hockey team was defeated by the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Valiants to 0-8 this year and 0-1 in the NECC.
Following a scoreless 30 minutes of action, the Beavers would break the tie three minutes into the second half courtesy of a Ginny Twitchell score. UMaine-Farmington would net an insurance tally late in the fourth from Alex Bessey as the Valiants offense was held in check and off the scoreboard by Katelyn Rouleau.
Manhattanville was limited to six shots in the contest.
Kate Buckley (South Burlington, Vt./Rice Memorial) and
Felicity Williams (Glen Falls, N.Y./Glen Falls) both led the Valiants with two shots each. In net,
Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior) made four saves over a full 60 minutes in the cage.
