NEWBURGH, N.Y. – In a defensive battle against a conference foe, the Manhattanville College women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw at Mount Saint Mary on Saturday afternoon. The tie moves the Valiants' record on the season to 3-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the Skyline Conference.
Even through 110 minutes, neither offense was able to find the game-winning tally, though both teams had their chances. The Knights outshot the Valiants 10-8 on the day, but Manhattanville logged more shots on target, recording six shots on goal to Mount Saint Mary's three.
Coming off her four goal performance earlier in the week,
Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy) led the Valiants with three shots, two on net.Â
Dori Grasso (Shelton, Conn./St. Joseph) also had a pair of shots on net, while
Alexa Devlin (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex Regional) and
Jennifer Xiong (Connelly Springs, N.C./East Burke) rounded out the Valiant attack effort, but the offense was unable to beat the Knights' goalie tandem of Caroline Brucato and Christina Kakavas.
Speaking of solid netminders, the Valiants got a great outing out of
Alexa Pyatsky (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City). The senior made three saves in a full 110 minutes of action, earning her first complete game clean sheet of the season. Pyatsky now has 155 consecutive scoreless minutes in net, dropping her goals-against average to 1.63 on the year.
