Box Score WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Manhattanville College women's tennis team had three student-athletes compete at Saturday's King's College Invitational. The tournament saw all three Valiant competitors reach the finals in their respective singles flights.
Renay Charley (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) represented the Valiants in No. 1 singles, defeating Hannah Seebold of Lycoming 6-0, 6-1. Charley would suffer her first defeat of the season in singles competition in the No. 1 finals against Scranton's Mayjah Jean-Pierre, 6-2, 7-5.
Bea Pretnar (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Soundview Prep) had a very strong showing in her inaugural match in the No. 2 singles quarterfinals, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win over King's College's Braelan Drollas. The sophomore would go on to defeat Emily Brecker of Misericordia 6-4, 6-4 in the semis before falling to Lily Nowak of Scranton in the No. 2 finals.
In No. 3 singles,
Kelsey Ulzheimer (Franklin Square, N.Y./H. Frank Carey) picked up a semifinals win over Lycoming's Emily Wolfgang, 6-3, 1-6, 10-3. The senior was bested in the finals matchup against Misericordia's Lydia Barbour, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles play, the tandem of Charley and Pretnar represented Manhattanvile in No. 1 doubles. The duo earned an 8-3 victory over Arcadia's Julia Paraboschi and Korlina Iordache, but were defeated by eventual No. 1 doubles winners Mayjah Jean-Pierre and Claire Loughlin of Scranton, 8-3.
