MADISON, N.J. – The Manhattanville College field hockey team dropped their first contest of this weekend's Drew Fall Festival on Saturday afternoon. The Valiants were defeated by Stockton University, 8-1. With the loss, Manhattnville moves to 0-2 to open up the year.
The Ospreys scored four goals in the opening period, including a pair of tallies in the opening four minutes that put Manhattanville in a hole they were unable to climb out of.
Charlotte Stanwood (West Vancouver, B.C./Penticton Secondary) netted the only Valiant score on the afternoon in the second quarter.
Ava Panzer's (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling) penalty corner set up the sophomore's first goal of the season, with assists credited to
Abbey Playle (San Jose, CA/Leigh High School) and
Raquel Brown (Claymont, Del./Brandywine).
Florence Harrison (Melbourne, Australia/Balwyn High School) and
Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior) each played a full half in net for Manhattanville, with both goalkeepers registering six saves.
