PURCHASE, N.Y. – As conference play continues on, the Manhattanville College men's soccer team was defeated on Tuesday evening by Farmingdale State College, 3-0. With the loss, the Valiants fall to 7-4-2 overall with a 5-1-1 conference record. The loss is Manhattanville's first regular-season conference defeat since 2018.
The match was an offensive battle as Farmingdale State recorded ten shots with seven on goal as Manhattanville had 12 attempts with five on goal.
Farmingdale was able to strike early though as Michael Lanouette tallied a goal in the 19
th minute to put the Rams up 1-0. Later on, in the 34
th minute, off a double assist from Daniel Rivas and Michael Lanouette, Brandon Balcaceres would score the team's second goal of the night. At the half, Farmingdale State would be up 2-0.
The second half would be off to a slow start, but fouls and cards were abundant for both teams early. Two yellow cards were given to Farmingdale State and Manhattanville was given five yellows and one red before the clock would tick down.
With one second remaining in the match, Balcaceres would score his second goal of the night and put Farmingdale up 3-0 to end regulation.
Luis Granados (Pasadena, Calif./St. Francis) had four total saves in the contest, but the offensive attack from the Rams was too much as he allowed three goals throughout the 90 minutes.
Sebastian Testa (Clermont, Fla./East Ridge) accounted for two shots on goal, while
Matt Rabadi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior),
Eli Pardo (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon), and
Dylan Ramage (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C Ketcham) each tallied their own. They would all be turned away by Justin Silva, who played a full 90 minutes in the net for the Rams.
Testa would also lead the team with five shot attempts on the night, while Pardo and
Gabriel Jefferies (Tunbridge Wells, U.K./Ridge (N.J.)) recorded two, and
Trevor Henderson (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) added one to bring the Valiants total to 12 shots, five on goal.
The Valiants had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Manhattanville will look to rebound on Saturday at Sarah Lawrence at 3 p.m.
