PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's tennis team was swept 9-0 by Ramapo College on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Valiants drop to 0-9 on the season.
The Roadrunners opened up the day by taking all three doubles draws.
Bea Pretnar (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Soundview Prep) and
Ella Brown (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) were defeated in the No. 1 position, falling 2-8 to Melanie Brentnall and Nicole Graham.
Victoria Szele (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich High School) and
Ally Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) were blanked 0-8 in the no. 2 position by Mackenzie Dates and Kassie Britt, while the duo of
Alana Anderson (Wellington, Fla./Palm Beach Central) and
Sara King (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) were defeated 2-8 by Madeline Zech and Tahlia Crescenzo in No. 3 Doubles.
It was another straight-sweep by the visiting Ramapo in singles action. Pretnar was bested by Brentnall in the top position, 4-6, 2-6, while Szele fell to Dates in No. 2 Singles, 5-7, 1-6. Brown lost to Britt 0-6, 3-6 in the No. 3 flight, while Anderson was unsuccessful in her No. 4 draw against Graham, 1-6, 0-6. Petricca fell 4-6, 4-6 to Zech in the No. 5 position. Finally, in the last match to conclude,
Keto Karkashadze () took a set against Crescenzo in the No. 6 flight. After dropping set one 0-6, the Valiant rookie forced a tiebreaking third set with a 6-4 win, ultimately falling in the third set 5-10.
