Women's Tennis Drops Conference Finale to Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's tennis team concluded their conference schedule on Tuesday night, falling to Skyline Conference foe Sarah Lawrence, 6-3. The loss drops the Valiants to 0-8 on the fall season

Manhattanville started the contest by winning one of the three doubles draws. The Valiants were victorious in No. 3 Doubles, as Alana Anderson (Wellington, Fla./Palm Beach Central) and Sara King (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) teamed up to earn an 8-3 win over Chloe Cohen and Catherine Whitman. Bea Pretnar (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Soundview Prep) and Ella Brown (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) fell to Simi Rao and Carrie sun 4-8 in the top flight, while the duo of Victoria Szele (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich High School) and Ally Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) were bested in No. 2 doubles 5-8 by Bella Biane and Ellie O'Brian.

The Valiants would go on to receive wins in singles play from Anderson and Petricca to round out their points in the contest. Anderson notched a 6-1, -0 victory over O'Brian in No. 4 play, while Petricca, coming off her skyline Rookie of the Week accolade, won her fourth-straight singles contest with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Alexandra Parker in the No. 6 position.

Brown and Keto Karkashadze () put up strong fights for the Valiants in their respective draws, falling in tiebraker third sets. Brown represented the Valiants in the No. 3 position, taking the first set over Biane 6-2 before falling 3-6 in the second and 0-10 in the tiebreaker. Karkashadze, meanwhile, bounced back from a 2-6 loss in set one to Cohen in No. 5 Singles with a 7-6 win to force the third set. Cohen would win the draw for the Gryphons, 10-3.

Pretnar fell to Rao in the No. 1 spot, 0-6, 4-6, while Szele was defeated by Sun in No. 2 play, 3-6, 6-7.
