PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College field hockey team were defeated by Marywood University on Saturday afternoon in their home finale, 5-0. With the loss, the Valiants fell to 4-10 on the season and 1-4 in the Atlantic East Conference.
The Pacers exploded offensively with 26 shots throughout the match with 16 on goal, as Amanda Leeland and Lauren Youngken contributed to all five goals in the Marywood win. Leeland tallied goals in the 16
th, 39
th, and 56
th minute, while Youngken scored in the 32
nd and 54
th minute to rally the Pacers past Manhattanville.
The Valiants were held scoreless and without a shot through the first period, while
Ava Panzer (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling) had two shots in the second period with one on goal.
Megan Keaveney (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) also recorded two shots with one on goal in the third period. In the final 15 minutes of the match,
Felicity Williams (Glen Falls, N.Y./Glen Falls) tallied two shots with one on goal while Panzer had a last second on goal shot attempt but no success.
Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior) played a full 60 minutes in the cage for Manhattanville and tallied 11 saves. Marywood's goalkeeper Rachel Yohn had four saves.
Marywood's Corrin Hasty and Aliyah Heintzelman both tallied a defensive save in the match.
The Pacers held a 25-3 advantage in penalty corners.
The Valiants close out their season on Wednesday at 4 p.m. on the road against Gwynedd Mercy University.
