Passley's Tally Lifts Women's Soccer Past Saint Joseph's-Brooklyn, 1-0

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Aiming to bounce back from their first conference loss of the year from Saturday, the Manhattanville College women's soccer team got back in the win column on a rainy Tuesday evening with a 1-0 victory over Saint Joseph's University-Brooklyn. The Valiants improve to 4-6-1 on the year overall and are now 4-1-1 in Skyline Conference play.

Morgan Passley (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) was the difference maker on the day, scoring the contest's only goal. The rookie was in the right spot at the right time streaking towards the net as teammate Kelly Barrera (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester High School) fired a shot that was blocked by a Bears defender. The carom came directly to the foot of Passley, who was able to rifle the shot past Julia Marin in the Saint Joseph's net for the lead in the 37th minute.

That would be all for either offense on the night, though the Valiants did have plenty of chances to tack on some more. Manhattanville fired 28 shots in the contest, 14 in each half. The Valiants put nine total shots on net, led by two from each of Passley, Dori Grasso (Shelton, Conn./St. Joseph) and Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy). Megan Leser (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) led the team effort with six total shot attempts.

Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) made two saves to notch her third clean sheet of the year. The rookie made a stop in each half to keep the Bears off the board on a night where Saint Joseph's was held to just four shots total. Girard lowers her goals-against average to 1.82 on the year with 69 total saves.

The Valiants held a 5-1 corner kick advantage on the night. The win makes Mahattanville 3-0-0 all-time against the Bears.
