ANNANDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team picked up its second straight win on Wednesday, earning a 9-0 victory at Bard. The Valiants improve to 3-4 overall on the year with the win.
The Valiants opened up the match by winning all three doubles draws.
James Hourihan (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and
Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H./Dover) represented the Valiants in No. 1 Doubles, outlasting Kai O'Donnell and Drew Soleiman in a tightly contested 8-6 matchup.
Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) and
Ryan Rosenberg () earned the point in the second flight, defeating Joas Erasmus and Sam Marcus 8-1. Finally,
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) and
Weston Goodwin (Freeport, ME/Freeport High School) blanked Oliver Allen and Augustin Johnson 8-0 in the third position.
The six would carry over the doubles success into singles play, dropping just five games total across the six flights. Gonzalez, Goodwin and Crowley each earned 6-0, 6-0 victories in their matchups, dominating from the opening serve. Hourihan was nearly perfect in No. 1 Singles, besting O'Donnell 6-0, 6-1. Rosenberg defeated Soleiman in the second flight, 6-2, 6-1, while Schlapak closed out the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Johnson in the No. 5 position.
