PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team earned its second-straight sweep on Saturday, earning a 9-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence in the team's first conference match of the season. The Valiants improve to 4-4 overall with the victory.
Manhattanville dropped just one game in total to the Gryphons, that coming in the No. 2 Doubles match where
Max Moeller (Crestwood, N.Y./Iona Prep) and
Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H./Dover) defeated Aiden Joyce and Sasha Connor by a final of 8-1. In the top doubles position,
Ryan Rosenberg () and
Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) picked up a 8-0 shutout over Henrik Nielson and Antonio Giannini.
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) and
Weston Goodwin (Freeport, ME/Freeport High School) earned the final doubles point by default as the Gryphons did not have enough players to field a third doubles pairing.
All four singles matches that were played ended in 6-0, 6-0 decisions in favor of the Valiants. Jaime Hourihan earned the win in No. 1 Singles over Giannini, while Goodwin took the victory in the second flight over Nielson. Over in No. 3 Singles, it was
Shiel Loganadan (New York, N.Y./Mary McDowell Friends) picked up the shutout win, while
Jaime Peredo (Uruapan, México/Instituto Morelos) collected the final point for the Vals with his blanking of Connor. The final two points of the match were awarded to
Vincent Liberatore (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) and
Fabian Meiser (Cologne, Germany/Woodstock Academy (Conn.)) by default.
