NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team earned its third straight sweep on Tuesday, defeating Mount Saint Mary College 9-0 on Tuesday. The Valiants are now 5-4 in the 2021-22 campaign, sitting at 2-0 in conference play.
It was a downright dominant display by the Valiants, as Manhattanville did not drop a single game to the Knights across the nine flights.
Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H./Dover) and
Max Moeller (Crestwood, N.Y./Iona Prep) earned the 8-0 victory over Julia Flynn and Victoria Valencia in No. 1 Doubles, while
Jaime Peredo (Uruapan, México/Instituto Morelos) and
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) earned the shutout over Jacques Stanley and John Del Bene.
Vincent Liberatore (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) and
Fabian Meiser (Cologne, Germany/Woodstock Academy (Conn.)) closed things out in doubles play with an 8-0 win over Corey Sowers and Olivia Scaturro in the third position.
In singles play,
James Hourihan (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) picked up the 6-0, 6-0 win in the top position over Flynn.
Ryan Rosenberg (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) earned the win over Stanley in the second position, while
Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) bested Del Bene in the No. 3 position.
Weston Goodwin (Freeport, ME/Freeport High School) was the Vals' representative in No. 4 singles, defeating Valencia. Crowley earned with win in the fifth position over Blanca Ayala Santana, while
Shiel Loganadan (New York, N.Y./Mary McDowell Friends) closed out the match with his victory over Scaturro in the sixth position.
