BRONX, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team had its four-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday, as the Valiants were swept by NYU, 9-0. With the loss, the Valiants fall back to .500 on the year with a record of 5-5.
The Valiants put up their best fights of doubles in the No. 1 and No. 3 flights.
Ryan Rosenberg (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) and
Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) teamed up in the first position, dropping an 8-3 decision to Alex Yang and Zachary Freier.
Shiel Loganadan (New York, N.Y./Mary McDowell Friends) and
Jaime Peredo (Uruapan, México/Instituto Morelos) fell to Rumaish Khastgir and Shrey Arora by an identical score in No. 3 Doubles.
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) and
Weston Goodwin (Freeport, ME/Freeport High School) were bested by Joseph He and Andy Watterson in the second flight, 8-2.
Things did not fare much better for the Valiants in singles play, dropping all six points. Loganadan had the strongest showing in the No. 5 position, dropping a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Henry Hochfelder. Rosenberg and Gonzalez dropped identical 6-2, 6-2 matches in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, falling to Yang and Freier respectively. Peredo was knocked off by Ryan Rhayani 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 position, while Goodwin and Crowley were each defeated by 6-0, 6-0 scores in No. 3 and No. 4 Singles.
