PURCHASE, N.Y. – A seven goal second quarter was the difference maker on Wednesday evening, as the Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team defeated Mount Saint Vincent by a final of 16-12. The win improves Manhattanville's record on the year to 2-8 and serves as the team's first home and conference win of the season, moving to 1-3 in Skyline play.
Kerry Carr (New Hartford, N.Y./Millbrook School) scored a pair of goals, reaching 100 for her NCAA collegiate career. After scoring 75 in her first two seasons at Chatham, the senior scored the 24
th and 25
th tallies of her Valiant career to reach the century mark.
Marisa D'Angelo (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) tied her career high on the offensive side with a five goal night. The junior moves into third in the team standings in goals with the effort, now with 18 goals on the year.
Brialee Logue (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) had a five point night herself with three goals and a pair of assists, recording her second hat trick of the season.

The game looked to be heading in a completely different direction than the final score indicated, as the Dolphins scored three times in the opening four minutes. The quick knock to the jaw led to the Valiants calling a timeout to reassess. The strategy worked as D'Angelo put Manhattanville on the board with her first of the night from
Maura Kelly (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) with 9:18 to go in the first. Alicia Rodriguez reestablished Mount Saint Vincent's three goal lead, but Manhattanville scored the final two goals of the period.
Lara Keenan (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) scored with 5:52 left in the period before D'Angelo closed out the quarter with her second of the game, collecting a ground ball off a blocked shot and quickly firing the rebound into the net to cut the Dolphin lead to a single goal.
The run carried over into the second quarter, as the Valiants would score five unanswered to begin the second frame.
Ally Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) evened the game 22 seconds after the opening draw off of a Logue assist before Kelly gave Manhattanville their first lead of the night with 10:24 remaining in the half. Petricca struck again with 8:42 left on the clock, netting her ninth of the year while a man down after Carr drew a yellow card. With the teams back to even, D'Angelo recorded her hat trick before Logue scored off a Carr setup to give the Valiants an 8-4 lead. After the Dolphins stopped the Valiants' seven goal run, Carr would score back-to-back unassisted goals to notch the 100
th of her career. Still, the Dolphins refused to go away, scoring three times in the last 2:25 of the half to cut Manhattanville's lead down to 10-8.
The lead would fall to one as Colleen MacNeil scored a minute into the half. D'Angelo responded with her fourth of the night from Kelly 53 seconds later, but Mount Saint Vincent would once again cut the lead to one off Aca Starace's goal with 9:45 to go in the period. D'Angelo had one last response up her sleeves, scoring her fifth off a pass by Petricca. Logue would follow up with her second from Carr to give the Valiants a little more breathing room at 13-10. MacNeil netted one more in the final seconds of the third to make it a two goal game again entering the final 15.
Kelly and Logue scored the first two goals of the quarter, putting Manhattanville in the driver's seat with 11 minutes to go. Starace got the Dolphins back within three with 5:42 remaining, but Mackenzie Orf closed out the game with her first career goal off Logue's assist to secure the win for Manhattanville.
Britney Sirota (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) made 11 saves to earn her second win of the season in net. The junior goalie also led the team in ground balls with four.
Kasey Molito (Whitman, MA/Whitman-Hanson Regional) caused a team-leading five turnovers on the defensive end. In addition to her milestone goals, Carr led the team with 11 draw controls in the game.
