Men's Tennis Sweeps Saint Joseph's (LI) in Home Finale

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Entering the final week of the regular season, the Manhattanville College men's tennis team continued their dominance in conference play on Wednesday, improving to 6-0 against Skyline Conference opponents with a 9-0 sweep of Saint Joseph's University (Long Island). The victory moves the Valiants to 9-5 overall on the year.

Manhattanville dropped just three games total across the nine contests as the team picked up its fourth consecutive win. The Valiants were nearly perfect in doubles play, as Ryan Rosenberg (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) and Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) earned an 8-1 victory over the tandem of William Vita and Jessica Jones in the top position. Jaime Peredo (Uruapan, México/Instituto Morelos) and Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) blanked Tyler Brock and Angelica Avecillas Martinez 8-0 in the No. 2 position, while Fabian Mesier and Max Moeller (Crestwood, N.Y./Iona Prep) had a similar success in No. 3 Doubles over Haley Celona and Angelica DeMonte.

Singles action was similarly successful for the home team. The first match to wrap was the No. 3 draw, as Crowley picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Brock. The No. 1 Singles contest saw a similar result, with Rosenberg blanking Vita. Peredo defeated Celona and Vincent Liberatore (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) bested DeMonte by 6-0, 6-0 finals in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively. Gonzalez was the victory in the No. 2 position over Jones, 6-0, 6-1, while Shiel Logandan earned the final point for the Valiants with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Avecillas Martinez.
