Women's Soccer Blanked at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – On the road for the first time in the young season, the Manhattanville College women's soccer team fell at Delaware Valley on Saturday evening by a final of 2-0. The loss drops the Valiants' record on the year to 0-2-0.

The Valiants were limited to just eight total shots in the contest, five of which were on target. Manhattanville's attack has been held in check through the first two games of the year, scoring just once in pair of tilts.

Rookie netminder Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) did her best to keep the Valiants in the contest, recording eight saves for a second consecutive game. Girard held the Aggies scoreless in the first half with a pair of saves, but DelVal was able to generate more offense in the final 45 to beat the Manhattanville keeper twice. Jess Williamson broke the shutout in the 52nd minute before she would pick up the assist on Alice Kaufman's insurance tally in the 77th minute.

Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy) was the only Valiant able to generate multiple shots in the contest, with one of her two shots going on goal. Alexa Devlin (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex Regional), Megan Leser (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining), Caela Vasilkioti (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) and Caitlin White (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) each also had a shot on net, but the tandem of Olivia Sherwood and Viola Anderson were able to successfully turn everything away to combine for the shutout for the home team.

The Valiants held a slim 5-4 advantage in corner kicks, with four of the opportunities for Manhattanville coming in the second half.
