Men’s Soccer Blanks Old Westbury, 4-0

PURCHASE, N.Y. – As the end of the regular season looms closer, the Manhattanville College men's soccer team are still deep in conference play as they defeated the Old Westbury Panthers on Tuesday afternoon, 4-0. With the win, the Valiants improved to 5-3-6 overall on the season and 5-0-4 in Skyline Conference play. 

A pair of goals in each half guided the Valiants to victory. Matt Rabadi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) and Arjan Delija (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) would score the first half tallies, while Janghyun Kim (Seoul, South Korea/Global Vision Christian School) and Alec Pineda (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester) would notch a goal each in the second half to secure the win. 

After a scoreless 32 minutes to open up the afternoon, Rabadi put the Valiants on the board 32:06 into the game off an assist from Michael Mezzina (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Morris Catholic). Just three minutes later, Rabadi would dish one out as Delija would find the back of the net and add to the lead for a 2-0 score before the half. 

The second half would be a time of firsts. Kim would score the third goal of the night for the Valiants at 50:33 for his first goal as a Manhattanville player. The Valiants would then capitalize on their lead with just under nine minutes to go in regulation.David Trujillo (Tampa, Fla./Plant) would cross a corner kick into Pineda who would score off a header to tally his first collegiate goal and secure the conference victory. 

In all, the Valiants outshot the Panthers 32-7, with 11 of Manhattanville's shots being on goal. Jack Rothluebbers would get his second start of the season in net, playing the full 90 minutes and making three saves throughout the contest. 

The Valiants totaled 11 corner kicks to Old Westbury's two. Delija would record five total shots, while Mezzina fired four. 

The Valiants close out their season on the road as they take on Yeshiva University on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 8:30 p.m. before heading to St. Joseph's Brooklyn for the regular season finale on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
