Field Hockey Celebrates Senior Day Against Immaculata

PURCHASE, N.Y.  – The Manhattanville College field hockey team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday morning, honoring the Class of 2024 ahead of their Atlantic East matchup with Immaculata University. The Mighty Macs would defeat the Valiants, 4-1, dropping Manhattanville's record to 3-11 overall on the season and 0-5 in conference play.

Prior to the start of the game, the Valiants' celebrated their lone senior, Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior) as she was honored for her many contributions to the program.

As the festivities ended and the game began, the Mighty Macs opened up scoring as Lauren Vanderbraak notched a goal in the sixth minute. The Valiants would then respond in the seventh minute with a penalty corner inserted by Felicity Williams (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) who would assist on Megan Keaveney's (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) goal. This would be her eighth goal of the season, continuing to lead the Valiants in scoring. Immaculata would fire out seven shots to Manhattanville's three, through the first 15 minutes.

It would be a very offensive quarter for the Mighty Macs who would start with a quick goal from Vanderbraak, 43 seconds into play. Della George would earn the assist on the goal. They would then capitalize on their lead with a goal from Emilyn Bivens, assisted by Abby Fekete at 23:58. Immaculata would total 12 shots and hold the Valiants to only a pair of shots. The Mighty Macs would lead, 3-1 going into the half.

Going into the third quarter, Manhattanville would be held without a shot as the Mighty Macs would fire off seven total. They would also score their final goal of the game at 44:04, as Vanderbraak would tally a hat trick for Immaculata.

The fourth quarter would be an even matchup for both teams, only getting one shot off each. The Valiants would be unable to bridge the gap or tie it up, losing their final home game of the season, 4-1.

In net, Morgan played a full 60 minutes for the Valiants as she tallied nine saves total.

The Mighty Macs held a 16-5 advantage in penalty corners.

The Valiants will conclude the regular season on the road at Cabrini University on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m.
