Women’s Soccer Draws Against Maritime

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - Despite the relentless attack, the Manhattanville College women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Maritime on Reinhart Field, Wednesday afternoon. The Valiants now reside at 4-3-2, starting 1-1-2. 

Manhattanville fired 14 shots in the first half, putting four on target, with efforts coming from Megan Leser (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining), Jennifer Xiong (Connelly Springs, N.C./East Burke), and Nadia Parisi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland). The Privateers' Devon Etienne would turn away these attempts, totaling eleven saves, while her offense could only produce one shot in the half. 

The second half continued to the same tune as the first, with the Valiants attacking efforts producing eleven shots in the half with seven attempts on net, controlling the pace of play. Mia Castaneda (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck), Alessia Cioffi (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling), Stephanie Sanchez (Rye, N.Y./The Masters School), Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy), all tallied shots on goal. 

The Valiants best chance in the contest came in the 76th minute when Aracena stepped up to the penalty spot following a foul by the Privateers in the box. Etienne stood tall on the line and parried away the kick, keeping the game level. 

All told, nine difference Valiants recorded a shot on the day, with Kailey Roxo (Seymour, Conn./Seymour), and Jenna Moraglia (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) adding in efforts towards goal off the bench. 

Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) collected her second straight clean sheet of the season. She now sits with 57 saves on the season sporting a 0.838 save percentage.

The Valiants stay on the road, heading to Yonkers, N.Y., to take on Sarah Lawrence on Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. on Fleming Field.
