BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - In a downpour, The Manhattanville women's soccer team fell to Sarah Lawrence, 2-0, on Saturday evening at Fleming Field. The Valiants now reside at 4-4-2 on the season.
A relentless attack from the Gryphons forced Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) to make four saves in the contest. She now sites at 61 saves on the season for a 0.824 save percentage.
Sarah Lawrence jumped out to a lead early in the contest, finding the back of the net in the 7th minute when Katey Beaver slotted home a ball into the lower left corner from a Samatha Lungren pass.
That score would hold as the half-time whistle blew.
The Valiants' best chance of the game would come in the 68th minute when Kelly Barrera (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester High School) had her shot parried away by Gryphons' netminder Bridgette Lee, securing the clean sheet for Sarah Lawrence.
Shortly after, Gryphons would add on an insurance goal in the 79th minute, as Beaver netted her brace on the evening tucking a ball into the lower right corner past the foot of Girard.
Megan Leser (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) tallied two shots followed by Nadia Parisi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) and Olivia Watson (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) with one shot, respectively.
All told, the Gryphons outshot the Valiants, 19-6, with the corner kick disparity leaning in Sarah Lawrence's favor, 10-2.
