NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Earning their first conference win since October of 2021, the Manhattanville College women's tennis team blanked Mount Saint Mary on Wednesday evening, 9-0. The Valiants improve to 3-2 overall and stand 1-1 in Skyline Conference matches.

The Valiants began the effort with wins in all three doubles draws. In the No. 1 matchup, Bea Pretnar (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) and Keto Karkashadze (Tbilisi, Georgia/New School International) logged an 8-4 win over Carly Green and Victoria Valencia. On the No. 2 court, the rookie tandem of Suzi Doyle (Devon, England/Exeter College) and Addison-Mercedes Ortiz (Bronx, N.Y./High School for Health Professions and Human Services) continued their stellar freshmen campaigns with an 8-0 shutout against Blanca Ayala Santana and Olivia Lynch. Elizabeth Dolce (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy) and Sara King (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) completed the doubles sweeps with an 8-3 victory against Peyton Curley and Paige Shrimpton in the No. 3 flight.

The good times kept rolling into singles play as the Valiants bested the Knights in all six matchups. Ortiz and Doyle each recorded a 6-0. 6-0 shutout in their respective No. 2 and No. 3 matchups. In No. 1's action, Pretnar bested Green, 6-1, 6-0, while her doubles teammate Karkashadze knocked off Curley 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 4 flight. Dolce picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Shrimpton in the No. 6 battle, leaving just the showdown between King and Angelina Mainiero on Court 5 as the last match going. After King won the first set 6-3, Mainiero flipped the score in the set to send the contest to breaker. There, King emerged victorious 10-7 to complete the sweep for Manhattanville, putting an end to a seven-match conference losing streak with thunder.
