PURCHASE, N.Y. – The postseason has arrived at Playland Ice Casino as the Manhattanville College men's and women's hockey teams will both be seeing UCHC Quarterfinals action on Wednesday evening. For the second year in a row, the women's hockey team secured the No. 3 seed and will take on the sixth-seeded Arcadia Knights at 3 p.m. The fourth-seeded men's hockey team will hit the ice at 7 p.m. to face the No. 5 Wilkes Colonels.

The Valiants concluded a 14-10-1 regular season this past Saturday after a 15 goal weekend series sweep against Neumann University. These victories capped off a hot end to the 2022-23 schedule and sends Manhattanville into the postseason on a four-game winning streak.
Manhattanville's offense has been led all season long by a 37-point campaign from
Gabrielle Cox (Niverville, NY/Ichabod Crane High School), who became only the fourth skater in program history to record a 30-goal season. Cox ranks in the top three in multiple UCHC statistical categories: 30 total goals (1
st), 37 total points (3
rd), 161 shots (2
nd), 11 power play goals (1
st), three shorthanded goals (3
rd), and three hat tricks (1
st). She also ranks second amongst all of Division III in both total goals and power play goals.
The Valiants have also received strong play this season from
Morgan Miller (St. Augustine, Fla./Gilmour Academy),
Annie Niedermier (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame) and
Franny Gerardi (Yonkers, N.Y./Selects Academy). Miller enters the postseason ranked third in the UCHC with 263 faceoffs won, 10
th with 97 total shots taken, and fourth in game winners with four goals on the season. Niedermier would also find herself in overall statistics ranking 14
th in the UCHC with 177 faceoffs won and 12
thwith a .545 faceoff win percentage. In net, Gerardi has been dominant for Manhattanville with 556 saves (4
th in the UCHC), a 1.69 goals-against average (5
th), and a .942 save percentage (3
rd). She would finish the regular season with a 9-10-1 record and six total shutouts.

In only their second season, the Arcadia women's hockey team will be making their second UCHC postseason appearance. Last weekend, they secured their spot as the sixth seed and finished the regular season with a 2-1 win on Friday evening and a 3-1 win on Saturday afternoon against Stevenson. They end the year with a 13-10-2 record which is a boost from their 10-15-1 finish last year in the Knights' inaugural season.
The Knights have been led by Morganne Dee throughout the season with 22 total points (17
th in UCHC), scoring 11 goals (15
th), dishing out 11 assists (17
th), and having one hat trick (6
th). Karahkwenhawe White has also appeared in the conference rankings, finishing with 16 total assists (7
th), 21 points (20
th), 92 shots (13
th), and two shorthanded goals (4
th). Ariel Williamson scored nine goals on the season (20
th), two game winning goals (22
nd), and 218 faceoffs won (21
st). Campbell Torrey also ranked with 246 faceoffs (9
th) and a .543 faceoff win percentage (13

In net, Jo Coates, Hannah Bergeron, and Sophia Szelag have split time with goaltending responsibilities. Each in their second season with Arcadia, Coates and Bergeron made 243 and 212 saves respectively as both round out the top goalies in total saves per game as Coates ranks 15
th and Bergeron 16
th. Szelag added 87 saves on the year. Coates ranks third in the UCHC with a 1.59 goals-against average and fifth with a .935 save percentage. Bergeron follows closely behind with a 2.21 goals-against average (7
th) and a .902 save percentage (12
th).
History
This is the second-consecutive year the Valiants and Knights are meeting in the UCHC Quarterfinals. Manhattanville won last year's postseason meeting 4-1, led by a pair of goals from Cox and 24 saves from Gerardi.

For the first time in four years, Manhattanville men's hockey will have postseason home ice advantage at Playland Ice Casino.
Mason Emoff (Collingwood, Ont./Vermont Lumberjacks (EHL), Pembroke Lumberkings (CCHL)) leads the Valiants in points with 22 (19
th in UCHC) having nine goals (22
nd) and 13 assists, while
Artem Mateichenko (Kharkov, Ukraine/New Hampshire Avalanche (EHL)) has a team-high 17 assists (13
th) on the year.
AJ Bella (Norwalk, Conn./Connecticut Roughriders (EHL)) would lead Manhattanville in scoring with 12 goals on the season (7
th). He would also be a conference leader with seven power play goals (7
th) and 86 total shots taken (9
th). Altogether, 20 Valiants have gotten a goal on the board, highlighting the depth of the roster.
Josh Fletcher (Calgary, Alb./Kindersley Klippers (SJHL)) leads with 178 total faceoffs won (16
th), while
Raymond Speerbrecker (Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada/Revelstoke Grizzlies (KIJHL)) adds 172 draws (18
th), and
Lane Paddison (100 Mile House, Canada/Canmore Eagles (AJHL)) rounds out the bunch with 167 (22

The Colonels claimed the UCHC's fifth seed following an 11-7-2 record in conference play and a 13-9-3 overall record. In a season of ups and downs for Wilkes, the Colonels began the year 3-7-1. What followed was an eight-game winning streak that spanned from December into February the propeled Wilkes right back into the postseason picture. While finishing the year 1-1-2 in their last four, it was enough points to take the No. 5 seed and set up Wednesday's matchup.
The Colonels have been led by the duo of Matt Carlson and Ben Stefanini through the 2022-23 campaign. Carlson has led the team offensively with 21 points (22
nd in UCHC), while scoring 11 goals (15
th), three game winning goals (7
th), and having 187 faceoff wins (15
th). Stefanini followed closely behind and totaled 20 points throughout the season scoring 13 goals (6
th in UCHC), six power play goals (7
th), dishing out seven assists, and taking 81 shots (11
th).
In net, Garrett Nieto and Michael Paterson-Jones have split time for the Colonels and both have had such a huge impact on the defensive front. Nieto ranks fifth in the UCHC with a 2.57 goals-against average, has made 415 saves (10
th), and has a .922 save percentage (4
th). He has been a dominant force for this Wilkes team as has Paterson-Jones. With his 2.96 goals-against average he ranks eighth within the UCHC, adding 299 saves (15
th), and a .903 save percentage (12
th).
History
The teams split the series at Wilkes during the regular season in November. The Colonels won the opener 4-3 in overtime, wiht Jimmy O'Kane netting the game-winner, while the Valiants took the finale 3-1 with goals by Emoff, Bella and
Dylan Pollak (New Fairfield, Conn./Selects Academy (18U AAA)).
