PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team remained perfect in conference play on Sunday afternoon, blanking Saint Joseph's Long Island 9-0. The win makes the Valiants 5-0 in the Skyline Conference and 6-4 overall with six straight match wins.
The Valiants dropped just one game across the three doubles draws.
James Hourihan (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and
Weston Goodwin (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) were victorious in the top flight, 8-1, over Ryan Freeley and Nick Nemickas.
Max Moeller (Crestwood, N.Y./Iona Prep) and
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) blanked Cory Stengel and Jake Gaudiello 8-0 in No. 2 Doubles, a score that was replicated by
Jaime Peredo (Uruapan, México/Instituto Morelos) and
Vincent Liberatore (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) in their No. 3 Doubles win over Ryan McNeely and Marcin Termena.
Manhattanville carried the momentum into singles action, winning all six draws there to close out the match. The Valiants recorded three 6-0, 6-0 wins in solos. Hourihan notched the shutout win over Freeley in No. 1 Singles, while Goodwin recorded his own 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 3 play against Stengel. Moeller logged the third shutout in No. 6 Singles against Termena.
Luis Gonzalez (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) notched a 6-2, 6-1 win over Nemickas in the No. 2 flight, while Shiel Loganandan was victorious in No. 4 play against Gaudiello, 6-0, 6-1. Liberatore made it a successful sweep by taking care of business in No. 5 play, winning 6-2, 6-1 over Anthony Flaccomio.
