D'Angelo and Carr's Milestone Goals Highlight Women's Lacrosse Win Over Old Westbury

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Marisa D'Angelo (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) scored the 100th goal of her career and Kerry Carr (New Hartford, N.Y./Millbrook School) collected her 200th collegiate point as the Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team enjoyed a 15-3 victory over Old Westbury on Tuesday night. The win improves the Valiants' overall record to 11-3, tying the program record for the most wins in a season. Manhattanville also improves to 4-2 in Skyline Conference play to move into third in the conference standings to begin the final week of the regular season.

Carr's milestone point came with 6:16 left in the first quarter as the graduate midfielder scored her first of four goals on the night. D'Angelo, meanwhile, entered the game with 98 goals on her career. The senior attacker scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Maura Kelly (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) just under four minutes in, but it would take until the closing seconds of the half for her to reach the century club as her 100th tally would be set up off a feed from Pietra Cabral (Mineola, N.Y./Mineola) with five seconds left in the second quarter.

The milestones were part of a 7-0 first half for the Valiants. In all, D'Angelo, Carr and Kelly each scored twice across the opening 30 minutes with Ally Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) adding a second quarter goal from Lauren Sergeant (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake).

In the third, Abbey Playle (Reading, England/Leigh High School) scored a free position goal for her fourth goal of the season to extend the lead to 8-0 with 1:58 gone in the period. The Panthers got on the board with 11:49 on the clock off a Nicole Abalco goal assisted by Jessica Pedroza. The Valiants would score five times to close out the third, all scored by different players. Cabral, D'Angelo, Kaci Pierce (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme), Kelly and Carr pushed the lead up to 13-1 entering the final 15 minutes.

The teams traded two goals apiece to close out the night, with Carr and D'Angelo fittingly each scoring once to draw the curtain on their landmark nights.

While not tested frequently, Britney Sirota (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) made a pair of stops in net for the Valiants. In three of her last four games, Sirota has allowed three or less goals.

Playle would finish the night with ten draw controls and five ground balls, leading the team in both stat lines. MacKenzie Orf (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Lakeland) matched her ground ball total while causing a pair of turnovers. In addition to her six points offensively, Kelly caused a team-high three turnovers while collected four grounders and four draw controls.
