Men’s Soccer Falls to Drew in Final Non-Conference Matchup

PURCHASE, N.Y – The Manhattanville College men's soccer team fell to visiting Drew, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon on GoValiants.com Field. Following the result, the Valiants drop to 0-3-2.

The Rangers scored once in the first half, then tallied their second with three seconds left to go in regulation, outshooting the Valiants 18-8 over the course of the contest. Christian Tyson opened the scoring in the 20th minute after his powerful shot from the top of the box soared past junior netminder Jake Rothluebbers (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union High School). Rothluebbers finished with a career-high 11 saves.

Drew remained aggressive in the second half, firing 13 shots while the Valiants gained their footing and went on the offensive. Manhattanville's shots on goal were led by Robert Pesantez (Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) and Sebastian Testa (Clermont, Fla./East Ridge), both of whom came onto the pitch in the second half as substitutes.

Tyson netted the aforementioned second goal after receiving a ball from his backline. With no defenders in sight he slotted it home with only a few seconds remaining to secure his brace.

The Valiants and Rangers tied in the corner kick department, both attempting five. Drew also led the foul disparity with 19 compared to Manhattanville's 16.

The Valiants will look to bounce back as they open up their conference play schedule at home against Mount Saint Vincent, with the Skyline opener taking place at 7 p.m. on GoValiants.com Field.
