Men’s Soccer Draws Against Mount Saint Vincent in Conference Opener

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Manhattanville College men's soccer team fought to a scoreless draw against the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday night at GoValiants.com Field. The Valiants move to 0-3-3 on the season.

The Valiants fired 18 shots in total, five of which were on target, but Joel Luna and the Dolphins locked down the defensive third. Luis Granados (Pasadena, Calif./St. Francis) was able to secure his second clean sheet of the season, making eight saves.

Michael Mezzina (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Morris Catholic) led the effort with six shots, with three being on target, followed by Keanu Stingone (Kew Gardens, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) who totaled three shots with one on goal, but none were able to find the back netting, despite the Valiants leading the shooting disparity, 18-12. Janghyun Kim (Seoul, South Korea/Global Vision Christian School), Arjan Delija (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington), Johnny Antolino (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison), Manuel Morales (Madrid, Spain/International College Spain), Joseph Kresse (Goshen, NY/Goshen High School), and Jackson Ayres (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) all registered shots in the contest.

The Valiants found themselves playing with ten men following a red card with just under twenty minutes to play, forcing them to switch into a more defensive gameplan. Manhattanville was successful in shutting down the Dolphins despite their man advantage, earning the draw to begin Skyline action.

Manhattanville pressured the Dolphins backline, resulting in 12 corner kicks to Mount Saint Vincent's five.
