Women’s Soccer Drops Road Contest to New Paltz

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Manhattanville Women's soccer team was bested by New Paltz, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon, on the road at South Turf Field.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the 29th minute. Following a corner kick, Laney Schmitz found the back of the net from a Parris Burke pass. New Paltz struck again just a minute later when Mia Baldinger slotted it home for the Hawks following a pass from Kelly Licata.

Macey Girard (Branford, Conn./Branford) faced 12 shots in the first half, saving six of them with the rest missing the target. She now sits at 36 saves on the season with a 0.800 save percentage.

The Hawks would then add two more goals from Rachel Eisert in the 58th minute, as Schmitz got one of her own in the 70th minute to push the score to 4-0. The Valiants would turn away the remaining six shots they faced. Natalie Aracena (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale Kingsbride Academy), Megan Leser (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining), Mia Castaneda (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck), and Nadia Parisi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) all gave Manhattanville chances to score but none could capitalize on them as Maddie Franklin and Madelyn Jachimiak combined for the clean sheet.
