Field Hockey Defeated by Mount Holyoke, 1-0

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College field hockey team fell to the Mount Holyoke College Lyons, 1-0, on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Valiants drop to 1-5 on the season.

The Lyons struck early with their lone goal coming from Anna Induni at 6:31 in the first quarter. Manhattanville's Shannon Keena (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) would then fire off one shot of her own but her equalizer attempt was off the mark.

Mount Holyoke would fire off four shots in the second quarter, while Manhattanville would get their final shot of the night from Felicity Williams (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) in the period.

The Valiants would then be held without a shot through the final half of play, while the Lyons would tally four and five shots, respectively, in the third and fourth quarter.

Lidia Vasquez-Sinisi (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) logged 15 minutes in net as the starting keeper, surrendering the lone Lyons goal. Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior) would then play the remaining 45 minutes and tally 10 saves through the final three quarters.

Mount Holyoke held a 14-3 penalty corner advantage in the contest.

The Valiants will be back in action on Wednesday, Sep. 27 against Albertus Magnus College at 4:30 p.m.
