PURCHASE, N.Y. – Wrapping up non-conference play, the Manhattanville University men's tennis team continued its stellar play on Sunday with an 8-1 victory over FDU-Florham. The Valiants will now carry an 8-3 overall record into the final week of the regular season.
The Valiants swept all three doubles matches to take control of the contest.
Shiel Loganadan (New York, N.Y./Mary McDowell Friends) and
Griffin Forberg (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) made quick work of Kelvin Liwag and Armin Ali in the No. 3 flight, 8-1, to secure the first point.
Carter Hunter-Crump (Denver, Colo./Centaurus) and
Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) bested Brandon Schwartz and Jaden Andresen 8-5 in the No. 2 matchup, while
James Hourihan (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and
Weston Goodwin (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) outlasted Matthew Emery and Ronald Duval in show court action, 8-7 (7-5).
Manhattanville then went on to take five of the six singles draws to take the match. Hunter-Crump racked up the first win, downing Ali 6-1, 6-1 in No. 6s. Loganadan took down Andresen 6-1, 6-0 on the No. 5 court before Forberg took down Liway 6-2, 6-0 in No. 3 play. Hourihan won his No. 1 flight over Emery 6-0, 6-1 while Goodwin secured the final Valiant win, 6-2, 6-4, over Duval in the No. 2 matchup. Guzman fell to Schwartz 2-6, 6-7 (6-8) in the No. 4 matchup.
