Men's Tennis Falls on Road at Farmingdale

The loss is the Valiants' first regular season defeat to a conference opponent since 2021

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Squaring off for the first time since last year's Skyline Conference Championship Finals, the Manhattanville University men's tennis team suffered its first regular-season conference loss since 2021 as the Valiants were defeated by reigning conference champs Farmingdale on Tuesday, 6-3. The Valiants fall to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in Skyline Conference play.

The Rams improved to 14-0 on the season with the win, taking the opening advantage by winning two of the three doubles draws. The Valiants were able to pick up the win in No. 3 Doubles with Shiel Loganadan (New York, N.Y./Mary McDowell Friends) and Griffin Forberg (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Ludlowe) defeating Muhammad Sawar and Ty Williams, 8-2. Farmingdale notched the victory in the No. 2 flight, with Carter Hunter-Crump (Denver, Colo./Centaurus) and Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) falling to Alan Sabovic and Matthew Waterhouse, 4-8. Tied 1-1, all eyes turned to the show court where James Hourihan (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and Weston Goodwin (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) were locked in a battle with Farmingdale's top pairing of Ryan Hendel and Vansh Aggarwal. The contest needed a breaker to determine a winner, with the Hourihan-Goodwin tandem ultimately falling 7-8 (5-7).

Farmingdale secured match victory by winning four of the six singles draws. Farmingdale earned wins in No. 1, 3, 5 and 6 play.

Loganadan and Goodwin earned the two solo wins for the Valiants, with both draws going to third sets to determine winners. In No. 4 play, Loganadan held off Sawar, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2. Over in the No. 2 flight, Goodwin outlasted Hendel, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).
