Graham's Record Breaking Effort in 60-Meter Highlight Track & Field's Outing at West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University track and field teams saw action for the first time in 2025 on Saturday, headed to West Point to compete in the Corwell Open. The Valiants competed in 13 total events on the day, squaring off against athletes across all three NCAA Divisions.

Shai Graham (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Theatre High School) led the charge with a record-setting effort in the 60-meter, as the junior took fourth in the prelims with a time of 7.14 seconds, shaving two hundredths of a second off his own program record of 7.16 seconds set last year. Graham went on to represent the Valiants in the 60-meter final, taking seventh with a split of 7.20 seconds, edging out William Gornell of USMMA for the best Division III performance in the dash. John Castaneda (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Matthew Friday (Bronx, N.Y./AECI Charter) also ran the preliminaries, placing 20th (7.41 seconds) and 36th (8.32), respectively.

Aka Udeagha (Rye, N.Y./Rye) and Courtney Brown (Clarendon, Jamaica/Mount Vernon) ran the 200-meter on the men's side, with freshman Udeagha placing 24th with a 24.66 finish and Brown taking 31st, crossing in 25.33 seconds. Zach Garrant (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill High School) ran in the 800 and took 8th place with a time of 2:08.88.

Darlig Delgado (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore Senior), Roberto Schneiger (New York, N.Y./Urban Academy Lab) and Daniel Baldessarre (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) took to the track for the 3000-meter distance race, taking places no. 7 through 9. Delgado led the Valiant trio with a 10:25.38 finish to claim seventh, with Schneiger's 10:34.76 and Baldessarre's 10:36.73 placing just behind him.

The Manhattanville men had two units compete in the 4x400 relay, with the tandem of Brown, Castaneda, Luca Perez (Somers, N.Y./Somers) and Garrant taking 10th (3:50.48), and the grouping of Udeagha, Graham, Delgado and Schneiger placing 14th (4:05.66).

Perez also competed in the long jump, placing 26th with his distance of 5.19 meters. Matthew Boggi rounded out the men's field events in the shot put with a throw of 10.85 meters, good for 17th place.

On the women's side, the 4x400 of Alicia Bibi (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough), Uzoma Nweze (), Adelina Rodriguez (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) and Jennifer Schmidt etched their names into the record book as the foursome finished in 4:52.96, the fourth-fastest time in the event in the indoor team's history. The Valiants finished seventh in the race.

All four competitors saw action in other track events, with Schmidt, Nweze and Bibi each running the 200-meter. Schmidt's 30.29 time was best amongst the Valiants, taking 18th and finishing one spot ahead of Nweze and her 30.37 finish. Bibi went on to take 24th, crossing in 32.18 seconds. Rodriguez, meanwhile, repped Manhattanville in the 1000-meter, taking fifth with a time of 4:09.28.

Kesai Butler (White Plains, N.Y./Woodlands) ran the 60-meter dash, placing 20th in the prelims with a time of 9.71 seconds. On the field side, Gabbrielle Billetz and Gigi Alvero (Yonkers, N.Y./St. Vincent Ferrer) competed in the shot put. Billetz took sixth with her throw of 10.76 meters, while Alvero's 6.59 meter mark was good for 11th.
