Men's Basketball Taken Down by the Rams, 82-61

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. -The Manhattanville University men's basketball team met the Rams of Farmingdale State College tonight in a vigorously fought battle. The Valiants managed to keep up with the Rams for a short duration of the contest but untimely could not hold on to any offensive opportunities. Manhattanville could not overcome the dominant performance of the Rams this evening to bring their overall record to 6-10 and conference record to 2-5.

The Rams gave a dominating first half performance leading for sixteen and a half minutes of the opening twenty minutes. While the lead remained apparent, the Valiants shot 34.6 percent from the field while Farmingdale shot 45.7 percent. The rams lead the charge in both offensive and defensive rebounds 9-2 and 16-9. The Valiants held onto a short lead in the middle of the first twenty before giving the Rams a twelve-point run with three minutes remaining in the first stanza. Daniel Marinaccio (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By The Sea) finished off the half for the Valiants with back-to-back three-pointers to top the score at 24-36 for the half.

Manhattanville never managed to take the upper hand in the second half as Farmingdale led for the duration of the contest. The Valiants were outscored 44-37 in the second half due to high pressure defense forcing the Rams hand by grabbing double the number of rebounds from Manhattanville, 21-11. The Valiants' talent behind the three-point arc should not be dismissed as they shot 50 percent compared to Farmingdale's 30 percent. A Shot downtown from Andrew Saint-Louis (Norwalk, Conn./Notre Dame Fairfield) at the 16:46 mark brought the score to within five points at 43-38 right before John Ranaghan (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) followed in pursuit of his cohort scoring another three-pointer to bring the score within four at 45-41. The lead would continue to grow and hold for the remainder of the contest as the Rams pulled out an 82-61 victory.

Ranaghan led the squad in points scoring seventeen points and shooting 100 percent from the free throw line going four-for-four. With these results, Ranaghan has scored in the double digits for thirteen out of sixteen games played so far this season.

Following closely behind with fifteen points was Saint-Louis, who also shot 100 percent from the free throw line going two-for-two. This makes Saint-Louis's twelfth game with double digits scored out of his fourteen games played this season.

Jack Scanlon (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River High School) grabbed four rebounds and contributed nine points to the mix.

The Rams leading scoring with nineteen points, Liam Buckley, also controlled the boards acquiring twelve for the night.

Seven blocks game from Farmingdale this evening as well limiting the Valiants of scoring opportunities for the duration of the contest.
