PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University men's tennis team wrapped up its fall season on Friday, falling to Baruch by a final of 7-0. The Valiants will carry a 1-3 record into spring play following the decision against the Bearcats.
The Valiants took the No. 1 doubles decision, with
Thomas Jouanneau (Luneville, France/Lycee Arago) and
Elouan Charretteur (Fontainebleau, France/Lycée International Francois Premier 1er) outlasting Juan Mendoza and Philipp Roeder on the show court, 7-6 (7-4). While the marathon on the lead court was taking place, Baruch was able to take the other two flights, with
Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) and
Sami Badre-Hume (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bay Ridge Prep) falling to Juan Paredes and Ryan Huang 1-6 in No. 2s and
Nicholas Gervasi (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Epsom College) and
Robert Zomer () being blanked by Anlact Huynh and Joshua Bey, 0-6.
Baruch went on to win all six singles flights to complete the match. Gervasi fell to Bey 0-6, 0-6 in No. 5s, while Zomer was bested by Huang, 1-6, 2-6. Guzman was toppled by Tuna Nergizoglu in No. 3s, 2-6, 0-6, while Badre-Hume lost to Paredes, 3-6, 1-6 in No. 4s. Charretteur finished up in No. 2s with a loss to Roeder, 4-6, 2-6, while over on No. 1s, Jouanneau lost a battle of Mendoza, 6-7 (9-11), 2-6.
