POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University men's tennis team officially opened the spring semester on Saturday afternoon, making the trip up I-84 to Vassar to take on the Brewers. The Valiants dropped the match 7-0, falling to 1-4 on the 2025-26 campaign.
Thomas Jouanneau (Luneville, France/Lycee Arago) and
Elouan Charretteur (Fontainebleau, France/Lycée International Francois Premier 1er) teamed up in the top flight, falling 3-6 to the tandem of Fernando Bauermeister and Nolan Kubiak.
Sami Badre-Hume (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bay Ridge Prep) and
Derwin Guzman (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) faced a similar fate in No. 2s against Pedro Cattaruzzi and Junchen Jia, while
Nicholas Gervasi (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Epsom College) and
John Curtin (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) were felled by Shrey Choudhary and Sanjay Rajkumar, 1-6.
Charretteur and Badre-Hume had the strongest showings in singles action. The former fell 3-6, 2-6 to Bauermeister in the No. 2 flight, while the latter sent the opening set against Jonas Santos in No. 4s to an extra game, falling 5-7 before dropping the second, 0-6.
Jouanneau fell to Eugene Lee 1-6, 0-6 on the show court, while Guzman was dispatched by Jia 2-6, 0-6 on the No. 3 court. Gervasi and Curtin were blanked 0-6, 0-6 by Maximus Martin and Alfonso Infante in the No. 5 and 6 showings.
