Women's Volleyball Takes Down Maritime 3-0

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville women's volleyball takes down Maritime in three for the second consecutive home conference sweep on Saturday afternoon in Kennedy Gymnasium.
The Valiants (11-7, 5-0) remain untouched in conference play, while the Privateers move to 8-9 (1-4).

SET ONE – MANHATTANVILLE
The Valiants pushed ahead to begin the match with a 10-3 start before dominating the court and taking the first set 25-14. Manhattanville had 12 kills in set one, fronted by Caylin Caballero (Eastvale, Calif./Walnut) with five, followed closely by Aurea Obradors (Barcelona, Spain/Benjamin Franklin International School) with three.

SET TWO – MANHATTANVILLE
An early jump for the home team put them up 9-1 to begin the set, led by Loren Hernandez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/American Military Academy) with two kills. A rally from Maritime brought the game within four (14-10), led by two kills from Ashley Pavarini.
Attacking efforts from Hernandez, Kaiel Maynor (Newark, N.J./Science Park), and Cassidy Fallon (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) took the Valiants back ahead, securing the 25-22 set two win.

SET THREE – MANATTANVILLE
The final set of the day was a back-and-forth offensive battle between both teams. Maritime took its first lead of the day to start the set out 5-2, before both teams evened at 11. The scoreboard stayed within two throughout exchanges until the Valiants pulled away for the 25-21 win, securing the match victory.
