PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Skyline Conference recognized three Manhattanville student-athletes for their efforts over the past week, one honoree coming from women's soccer, women's volleyball, and women's tennis.
Skyline Conference Women's Soccer Weekly Report – Oct 20th
Stephanie Sanchez (Rye, N.Y./The Masters School)
In the Valiants senior-day shutout over Maritime, Sanchez her fellow seniors and team to a 2-0 victory. She started off the match with a solid pass to Jennay Amaral (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) to assist the game-winner before coming out in the second half and recording her own net.
Up next for the women's soccer program is a head-on road trip for their last two regular-season away games against Mount Saint Vincent (Oct 22) and Farmingdale (Oct 25).
Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Weekly Report – Oct 20th
Alana Rivera Torres (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista de Guaynabo)
Over the week, volleyball grabbed two sweeps on its home court. Rivera Torres grabbed a new season-high five aces and 12 assists to start the week against Merchant Marine. Against Maritime, she added to her weekly totals with two more aces as well as 26 assists.
Women's Volleyball will be on the road this week, facing Mount Saint Mary on Wednesday, Oct 22, at 6 PM.
Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Weekly Report – Oct 20th
Jenifer Lalman (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady)
Lalman not only went 6-0 over the week, but the Schenectady native has posted an undefeated regular season on the singles courts. Her stand-out performance of the week came against Megan Mann of Mount Saint Mary, going 6-2, 6-0, towards the team's sweep to secure the two seed in postseason play.
Along with doubles partner Amaya Ortiz (Bronx, N.Y./High School for Health Professions and Human Services), I started the scoring for tennis' 7-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence to end the week.
The next match for women's tennis is the Skyline Conference Championship, hosting No. 3 St. Joseph's Long Island, on Wednesday, Oct 22, at 3:30.
