SCRANTON, PA – Hannah Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) reached 150 career saves in the cage for the Valiants in 3-0 loss against Marywood University on Saturday afternoon.
The Valiants drop to 5-10 (0=3) while the Pacers move to 9-8 (4-0).
FIRST HALF – MARYWOOD 2, MANHATTANVILLE 0
With eight minutes left in the first quarter, Doherty stopped a numbers-up breakaway before her defense was able to step in to clear it out.
MWD gets on the board with just under three left in the first fifteen with a cross-cage pass from Amelia Niven to secure the goal from AEC scoring leader, Dariane Jones.
The home team added to the lead with a carry up the right side ending in an angled shot by Brooke Barwick to the back right corner in the second quarter.
SECOND HALF – MARYWOOD 3, MANHATTANVILLE 0
Doherty recorded four saves in the second half while the Valiants grabbed a shot from Emelina Leccese (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) to no avail.
With just under eight to go in the game, the Pacers pushed out by three with Barwick's second of the day.
