Volleyball Wins in Straight Sets against Dolphins

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattanville women's volleyball takes its fourth consecutive sweep in 3-0 victory over Mount Saint Vincent.

The Valiants (13-7) remain undefeated in Skyline play, the Dolphins move to 7-13 (1-5 SKY)

SET ONE

Manhattanville started the day with a demanding 5-0 run. After UMSV grabbed its first point of the day, the away team went on another spurt, pushing out to 10-1. While the Dolphins were able to take points here and there, the Valiants held their runs to under three consecutive in set one (15-6, 15-7, 15-8)  before ultimately taking the first of the day 25-10.

SET TWO

After beginning the set with the first tie of the day, one, Manhattanville took eight straight, making it 9-1.

The next stretch was even with the Vals scraping ahead 7-6, pushing the score out 16-7, highlighted by kills from Izzy Mojica (Tolland, Conn./The Woodstock Academy), Aurea Obradors (Barcelona, Spain/Benjamin Franklin International School), and Loren Hernandez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/American Military Academy).

Manhattanville, led by two kills from Mojica, went on a 9-6 run to grab set two 25-14.

SET THREE

UMSV took an early lead in set three, jumping out ahead 8-3 with two kills from Sienna Martin. A kill from Cassidy Fallon (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) changed the momentum back to the Valiants' side of the court. The run to follow went to the Vals 13-9, highlighted by four kills from Caylin Caballero (Eastvale, Calif./Walnut), followed closely by three from Mojica and two from Emily Brown (Kaneohe, Hawaii/Damien Memorial), to reset the scoreboard at 17.

Caballero fronted the final run in the match, posting three kills in the 8-3 stretch to secure the set 25-22 as well as the Valiants' third straight on the road, sixth straight victory.

Up Next – The Valiants return home on Tuesday, Oct 28, to face Yeshiva at 7 PM.
