FIRST HALF – MANHATTANVILLE 1, GWYNEDD MERCY 1
The Valiants came out in a defensive-forward mindset. Hannah Doherty (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South) recorded four saves in the first half of gameplay, including a penalty stroke, denying it from her non-dominant side. Alexandria Maresca (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) kept the Griffins off the board with a defensive save on a corner shot from the top of the circle.
The Griffins struck first through congestion in front of the cage, Morgan Hoban sneaking the ball through and over the line.
The Valiants struck back with a goal from Hannah Revell (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls), with the ball coming straight off the post onto her stick, and finishing in the back of the cage to send the game into halftime tied at one.
SECOND HALF – MANHATTANVILLE 3, GWYNEDD MERCY 1
The game-winning goal came from Guinan, carrying the ball herself and sending it past the keeper.
The final goal came from F.Doherty, who was able to tap in for the score off the rocket from Shannon Keena (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River).
Securing the victory in the cage, H.Doherty shut down another five saves in the second half.
