PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University men's soccer team put together a gritty 90-minute effort on the road Saturday but came up just short, dropping a 1–0 decision to St. Joseph's University Long Island in Skyline Conference play.
The Golden Eagles netted the match's lone goal in the 22nd minute, as Aris Radillo scored to give St. Joseph's the early advantage. From there, it was a defensive grind, with the Valiants fighting to level the score across both halves.
Senior goalkeeper AJ Lucas (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) anchored the Manhattanville defense, recording four saves to keep his team within striking distance. Lucas came up big in the second half with crucial stops on shots, keeping the scoreline tight until the final whistle.
Offensively, the Valiants created consistent pressure on the attack, outpacing St. Joseph's in corner opportunities, earning four total corners—two in each half. Sophomore Nickolas Pagan (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North) led the early charge, forcing a save in the 9th minute with a shot on goal. Alec Pineda (Yonkers, N.Y./Port Chester) provided another spark after halftime, recording three shot attempts, including a pair in the 67th and 68th minutes.
Despite their efforts, Manhattanville finished 0-1 with four total shots, two on goal, while St. Joseph managed nine shots
