NEW YORK, N.Y. – After helping the Valiants end the calendar year with a pair of conference victories,
Esther Ramos (Queens, N.Y./Forest Hills) of the Manhattanville University women's basketball team has been named a Met Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II/III Honorable Mention for the week ending Dec. 14, the organization announced earlier today.
Ramos is the first member of the women's basketball team to earn the recognition this season after being named a weekly Honorable Mention one time in her junior season and being an end-of-year Division III Honorable Mention at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Manhattanville's leading scorer through the first ten games of the season, Ramos reached double digits in both games last week against Skyline Conference foes, putting up 38 total points on the week with 10 rebounds, four steals and a pair of assists. The senior forward shot .533 across the pair of games as the Valiants improved to 8-2 overall on the season and stand alone in first place in the conference entering the new year at 6-0 in Skyline play.
Ramos began her week on Tuesday against Saint Joseph's Brooklyn, scoring 13 points against the Bears with three rebounds. She outdid herself in Saturday's road win at Mount Saint Mary where she scored 25 points and recorded a season-high four steals, adding seven rebounds and two assists while shooting .579 in the victory.
Ramos and the Valiants will enjoy some time off for the winter holiday break before returning to action in the new year on Jan. 3 at Ramapo at 1 p.m.
