Saint-Louis' 24 Points Pushes Men's Basketball Over York

JAMAICA, N.Y – Andrew Saint-Louis (Norwalk, Conn./Notre Dame Fairfield) led the Manhattanville University men's basketball to a 79-72 road victory over York College with 24 points and nine boards on Wednesday night.

The Valiants moved to 3-4 (0-0 SKY) while the Cardinals fell to 0-6 (0-0 CUNYAC).

Three additional starters reached double digits in scoring following Saint-Louis. Senior transfer Chris Robinson (Bedford-Stuyvesant, N.Y./Westminster School) posted a stat-sheet-stuffing performance, recording 15 points, three blocks, two steals, and five defensive rebounds in his 34 minutes on the court. Robinson now leads the team in blocks with six on the year.

Classmates John Ranaghan (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) and Isiah Middleton (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian) scored 13 and 10, respectively. Middleton pulled down seven rebounds, with four being defensive rebounds.

Saint-Louis went 9-for-10 from the line to contribute to the fourth game, scoring more than 20 points. The graduate student from Norwalk, Conn., also pulled down six offensive rebounds, three defensive rebounds, and one block while recording his fourth complete game of the year.

Joshua Jackman led the offensive effort for the Cardinals with 29 points and six rebounds. Christopher Smith fronted the defense with ten rebounds, seven off the Valiants' shots. York outscored Manhattanville in the paint 34-30 and on points off turnovers 11-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF - YORK 36, MANHATTANVILLE 35

The home team controlled the court for the first six minutes of gameplay, pushing out by six off a driving layup, 13-7. A jumper from Antonio Del Vescovo (Mount Olive, N.J./Mount Olive) with just under 14 minutes in the first half fueled a 28-23 run, with Saint-Louis knocking down 11 and Middleton close behind with six, sending the teams to the locker room with a one-point game, 35-36 York, after the first half.

SECOND HALF - MANHATTANVILLE 79, YORK 72

Middleton put down the first two of the half to give the Valiants its first lead of the game. Ranaghan followed with two consecutive threes, pushing out 43-38. Over the 10 minutes of gameplay, the away team pushed out to their largest lead of the game, sealed with three from Daniel Marinaccio (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By The Sea), 68-54 with just under seven to play. The Cardinals outscored the Valiants 18-11 in the final six minutes, but with eight points and a steal from Saint-Louis, the Vals secured the road victory.
